The First National Bank & Trust Co. Announces New Name: Brooks Bank

Chickasha community bank begins next chapter after more than 130 years of local service

The First National Bank & Trust Co., a locally owned, employee-owned community bank with deep roots in Chickasha since 1892, is now operating under a new name: Brooks Bank.

The new name honors the Brooks family—whose vision and leadership helped shape the institution into what it is today. The bank's ownership, leadership and staff remain unchanged, as does its commitment to the customers and communities it serves.

"This marks an exciting new chapter for our bank. While our name is changing, our commitment to Chickasha and our local communities remains steadfast as we build on our history and invest in the future."

John Gorton, Chief Executive Officer

Chickasha has been central to the bank's history since its founding. The institution opened in 1892 as Citizens Bank and has since operated as Citizens National Bank, Citizen Farmers National Bank, First National Bank and The First National Bank & Trust Co. Throughout each transition, the bank has remained in Chickasha, serving local families and businesses across multiple generations.

The decision to rebrand as Brooks Bank reflects a need for a clearer, more distinctive identity. More than 800 banks across the U.S. use some variation of "First National," which has created confusion among customers and prospective customers. The new name distinguishes the institution while preserving the principles that built it.

Customers will experience no disruption to their accounts or services. Account numbers, routing numbers, debit cards, checks, online banking, direct deposits and FDIC insurance remain unchanged. Bank locations and phone numbers are also unchanged. No action is required of customers.

Brooks Bank continues to operate as a national, locally & employee-owned community bank guided by its longstanding vision: "We commit to your success."

Frequently Asked Questions

Why a new name? Why Brooks Bank?

We wanted a name that's uniquely ours. There are a lot of banks with "First National" in the name, and we wanted one that sets us apart while still honoring where we came from. This is a name change and a fresh look only. There's no sale, no merger, and no change in ownership or leadership.

Do I need a new debit card?

No. Your current debit card will keep working exactly as it does today, so there is nothing you need to do right now. When your card reaches its expiration date, we will automatically send a replacement featuring the Brooks Bank name and logo. Your account number and PIN stay the same throughout.

Is the routing number changing?

No. Our routing number remains the same. Any payments, transfers, or deposits tied to it will continue to process without any action on your part.

Will my checks still work?

Yes. You can keep using your existing checks for as long as you have them, with no changes needed. When you reorder, your new checks will simply carry the Brooks Bank name.

Is online banking changing?

Your login credentials stay the same, so you can continue banking online and through our mobile app just as you do now. If any updates to the platform are ever planned, we will let you know well in advance.

Is the bank being sold?

No. We remain the same locally owned and employee-owned institution you have always trusted. The only thing changing is our name.

Why the bird?

The scissortail is Oklahoma's state bird, and it anchors Brooks Bank to our local roots. Its distinctive look sets us apart from other "National" banks, and its steady, protective nature reflects how we look after our customers and communities.

Is my account number changing?

No. Your account number stays exactly the same. There is no need to update it anywhere, and every account you hold with us carries over without interruption.

Do I need to update direct deposits or automatic drafts?

No. Your direct deposits and automatic drafts will continue uninterrupted. Because your account and routing numbers are not changing, everything you have set up keeps running on schedule.

Is my money still FDIC insured?

Yes. Your deposits remain FDIC insured exactly as they are today, up to the maximum amount allowed by law. Your coverage is not affected by the name change in any way.

Are bank locations or phone numbers changing?

No. Every location and phone number stays the same. You will see the same familiar faces at the same places, ready to help you just as they always have.

Will loan terms or agreements change?

No. Every existing loan term and agreement remains exactly the same. Your rates, payment schedules, and contract details are unaffected, and there is nothing you need to sign or update.
